Hannah and I were talking and she was questioning what I study and what I want to do and I realized that I never really talk about it with you guys beyond the general. So she urged me to make a post for my about me.
I’m going to be a sophomore at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute this coming fall, majoring in Chemical Engineering. ChemE’s cover a wide area including creating ideas for new molecules, reactions, and processes as well as designing systems for large scale production of existing molecules, polymers, etc. My interests lie in pharmaceuticals and how to make them more effective. I’m fascinated by the idea of improving the lives of others with something so small and yet so powerful. My program is in the top 20 in the country so I am blessed with a lot of options for research. Next year I’m hoping to work with a program that can design and model new drugs and test their effectiveness and how they will react in the body without ever having physically made them in the lab. My physical ability in a lab is limited so this is a magnificent opportunity for me to explore. It is also projected to become very large in the future due to its cost effectiveness. For this upcoming summer, I am looking in to doing some volunteer research at the local hospital. It’s a very competitive field and any work in the related area will put me at an advantage for the future!
